To be eligible to win, organizations must be based in Ontario, Canada.
Non-profit, charitable or for-profit organizations are considered eligible for the purpose of this competition. Organizations should have a non-discrimination policy and should not engage in discrimination based upon race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or any other characteristic protected by law.
The organization may have an existing website that is in need of a complete redesign or may require a new website altogether.
The recipients of this competition from Industrial are not required to pay for any design or development services related to the launch of the website up to the agreed upon $25,000 CDN credit. Scope that takes the project over this threshold will be agreed upon and paid for by the client. Purchase or prior relationship with Industrial will not increase the likelihood of winning. No purchase necessary to win.
Domain registration and hosting are not included and will require an additional fee (see below).
Depending upon desired functionality, the winning organization may be responsible for purchasing and maintaining licenses for third-party WordPress plugins and/or third-party applications or tools on an ongoing basis. The exact ongoing cost will be determined in collaboration with the winning organization during the “scoping” phase of the project.
The organization is responsible for providing all content necessary for the completion of the website, including text and photos. If stock photos are necessary, it will be the organization’s responsibility to purchase them.
No, website hosting and domain registration are not included. The winning organization will be required to purchase a domain name (if they do not already have one) and an adequate hosting account suitable for running a modern WordPress website. Hosting is an ongoing expense that the winning organization will need to budget for the life of their website.
The content management software used will be Wordpress.
Timelines from when the winner is announced to when the final website is launched depend upon a variety of factors including the size of the website (number of pages), desired functionality, how quickly the organization can provide content for the website, and Industrial’s availability.
Throughout the duration of the project, the organization will be required to participate collaboratively in design and functionality decisions. There will be weekly or bi-weekly project check-in calls and fast response time will be required on all questions and/or decisions. Additionally, the organization will need to provide all content and photos for use on the website, which may require a significant copywriting effort depending upon the size of the website.
Typical website projects take several months to complete. The winning organization should plan for a Fall launch, although an official timeline will be determined in collaboration with the organization during the “scoping” phase of the project.
We will provide 30 days of free support within the scope of the project following the launch of your website. During this time, your team will receive two training sessions and will have access to WordPress tutorial videos to ensure that you know how to adequately edit and maintain the website.
Following the end of the support period, Industrial would be happy to provide ongoing support or make additional modifications to the website. Industrial has support plans that can be purchased if interested. If budgets are an issue, we are happy to provide some recommendations for lower cost support.
